Project selected at the 10th edition of the Brazilian Biennial of Graphic Design and published on
the collection “The best of brochure design 12” edited by Rockport Publishers.

Glyph is the basic element of writing. To design means to organize and give an order to informations and shapes.
The basic element of design is typography. For the new series of promotional cards for the Glifo Milan-based design studio, the concept was the centrality of typography in the design process, starting from the term glyph (Glifo in Italian). Declining it to describe some of the most important acts of design using the following key-words and to compose the word Glifo it self: glyph (glifo), language (linguaggio), information (informazione), figuration (figurazione), order (ordine).

The different visual subjects are emphasized by using different types (of different ages and styles), print effects
(die-cut, special color, transparent gloss coating) or by photos of 3d handmade typo-compositions. The 3 series work as singles folds or as indipendent cards series. On the covers 3 citations from Federico Fellini (film director), Francesco De Sanctis (philosopher) and Achille Castiglioni (designer) complete the description of Glifo's overall approach to design.
